John F. Kokai-Kun, PhD
John F. Kokai-Kun, PhD is Vice President of Non-clinical Affairs for Synthetic Biologics, Inc. (Rockville, MD). He received his BS in Biochemistry from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. He served as a post-doctoral researcher at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Kokai-Kun has 20 years of experience in the drug development industry and has held positions with several biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies where his research and development efforts have focused primarily on anti-bacterial drugs and vaccines. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed publications relating to various aspects of drug development and microbial pathogenesis. Dr. Kokai-Kun is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Uniformed Services University and retired from the United States Army.
