Why Attend

The No.1 Meeting Place For Beauty Business Partnering

From momentous transactions such as Estée Lauder’s acquisition of Too Faced, to a spell of minority investments in early-stage companies such as L Catterton’s investments in Kopari Beauty, VMG’s investment in Drunk Elephant and Main Post Partners’ investment in Milk Makeup, M&A activity in the beauty industry is thriving.

The more acquisitions a company makes, the better each transaction performs, according to a recent market report by A.T. Kearney. With frequent buyers growing 63% more enterprise value over a six-year period than infrequent buyers of a comparable size, it is more important than ever to act quickly and secure well-priced targets in a competitive landscape.

Beauty & Money is an exclusive one-day event, connecting industry executives from strategic buyers, financial buyers and independent beauty brands.

“‘Power Rangers ‘wrecked’ my skin’… The former actress got the idea to start her skin-care line, which is inspired by her Chinese grandmother's traditional beauty secrets, while on set during her role in the '90s favorite Fox hit TV Show Power Rangers” - Refinery 29

Los Angeles, CA - It was a case of “personal need” that led actress Jennifer Yen to create purlisse beauty. While enjoying success as a Hollywood Actress on the hit TV Show Power Rangers, Yen would spend 15 hours a day in hair and heavy makeup, and then perform combat scenes for hours at a time. As a result, Yen’s skin dramatically suffered.

“Within six months of landing Power Rangers, my skin was wrecked from wearing layers of heavy makeup,” Yen states. “I developed rosacea, psoriasis, adult acne, hives and sensitive skin and my confidence plummeted. I tried everything - all the latest and greatest and nothing worked and this is when I re-discovered my grandmother’s Asian beauty rituals.”

The desire to create a skincare line - as nothing Yen tried on herself, worked - with an emphasis on ingredients that gently heal, soothe and repair the skin without the need for harsh chemicals, is what eclipsed Yen’s desire to remain a Hollywood actress and to pursue purlisse beauty.

purlisse is derived from Asian beauty wisdom, reinvented into modern, multi-tasking, and high performing skincare essentials that are safe for all skin types, even hyper sensitive skin. Recent highlights including a collaboration with top tier influencer Kandee Johnson for a limited edition body kit, partnering with leading retailers such as Morphe, and  garnering industry award and accolades.

Later, Yen became a mother for the first time and embraced her next and most important role: motherhood… and single mom at that! Yen did not have a traditional maternity leave, and continued to work long hours in the day while tending to her new born girl Gemma. While of course, juggling the night feeds and sleepless nights too. Suffice to say, Yen’s complexion took another hit - echoing that of her Power Ranger days. This time however, Yen’s body was depleted too. Yen turned to her heritage once again for a solution, which marked the beginning of Yen’s next brand venture: Yensa Beauty; the first Asian Superfood Cosmetics Line that enlists tried and true superfood ingredients to revive the skin and complexion.

“I was determined to heal myself with a diet of Asian Superfoods, which have been used by generations of women in my family. Outer beauty mirrors inner health… a statement that was to soon become my lightbulb moment! I knew that I needed to create a cosmetic line that harnessed the power of Superfoods that heal the body, but for skincare and color purposes to review the skin! Yen literally translates to ‘Color + Face’ in Chinese, ‘Deep Desire + Passion’ in English, ‘Calm + Peace’ in Vietnamese and ‘Currency’ in Japanese. Through the launch of my Superfood Cosmetic Line ‘Yensa’, I invite all people to rediscover their ‘Yen’ and to live a healthy life that radiates inner and outer beauty’” - Jennifer Yen

As a single mom, Yen is passionate about supporting women and education. Yen is in the Visionary Circle of Visionary Women, on the host committee of Rise of the Female entrepreneur, a mentor to the Spark Student Program and the Cherie Blair Foundation. Yen also gives back to the beauty industry by contributing to Look Good Feel Better, a foundation that  supports women battling the effects of cancer. For Yensa Beauty, Yen has partnered with Dress For Success, a charity that inspires women to seek economic independence.

A broadcast and editor favorite, Yen has been featured as a beauty expert by Home and Family, Real Simple, KTLA, Refinery29.com, Health, Self, Allure, Marie Claire, VOGUE, Teen Vogue and more. Celebrity fans of purlisse and Yensa include Cardi B, the Cast of Scandal, Jamie Chung, Jamie Lynn Spears, Toni Collette, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, plus others. purlisse and Yensa is a ‘go-to’ for many popular YouTube personalities, including Michelle Phan and Desi Perkins.
