“The Beauty & Money Summit is important to us, because it is the only vehicle in the market place today that is really identifying globally, the next generation of brands in today’s beauty world.”

William Susman, Managing Director at Threadstone Advisors

Why Attend

Over the past year, The Beauty & Money Summit has connected over 500 industry leaders, through over 2000 private meetings globally.

Since we launched back in 2017, Beauty & Money has focused on helping independent beauty brands to connect with financial and strategic buyers. We’ve come to realise though, that building a successful business isn’t just about raising capital.

So this year, we’ve identified 3 key areas in which building the right relationships can really help to drive your business forward.

INVESTMENT | RETAIL | MENTORSHIP

  • Schedule one-to-one private meetings with seed and series A investors, expanding your network to secure your next source of capital.

  • Connect with global distributors and retailers to find your next partner and optimise your international distribution strategy.

  • Receive advice on overcoming business critical challenges such as building an effective team, differentiating product lines and driving reoccurring revenue.

  • Determine what investors and strategic buyers are looking for to perfect your pitch and gain the competitive edge when raising capital.

  • Understand what retailers are looking for to perfect your pitch and achieve omnichannel distribution.
  • Schedule one-to-one mentoring sessions with our brand mentors to expand your professional network and build authentic relationships.

Oliver Mennell is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NEOM, the wellbeing and beauty brand.

Widely recognised as one of the first and fastest growing wellbeing brands in the UK, NEOM offers natural products that are designed to deliver therapeutic benefits to relieve stress, aid sleep, boost energy or lift mood.

A chance encounter and savvy sales skills launched Oliver’s career in private equity, converting a two-week internship into a full-time role becoming the youngest Investment Analyst at Nikko Principal Investments. During his time spent at the firm, Oliver learnt first-hand about buying, building and selling businesses, an experience that would later prove invaluable when setting up his own business.

Two years later an opportunity arose. Close friend, Nicola Elliott, came to Oliver with the idea of creating a wellbeing and beauty brand that harnessed the power of potent essential oils. Having experienced first-hand the impact stress and anxiety can have in high pressure jobs and noticing a building momentum towards healthy living, Oliver saw a clear gap in the market for a brand designed to address key wellbeing needs. In 2005, aged twenty-three, Oliver launched NEOM with Nicola.

Based in Harrogate and employing close to 100 people, NEOM is a fast-growing multi-channel business with retail sales of over £25m in 2019. Its home fragrance and skincare ranges are sold through leading department stores such as John Lewis, Selfridges and Fenwick in the UK as well as flagship international stores. NEOM has a thriving online business and five of its own retail stores with further openings planned. In December 2017, Oliver led a major growth capital investment from Piper, the UK’s leading investor in consumer brands.

Lopo is the Founder and CEO of Treatwell, the largest hair and beauty booking service in the world. The company, which is headquartered in London, has over 10 million appointments made through its online bookings platform annually, employs over 500 people and has over 25,000 spas and salons using its service, with 1,500 new ones joining each month.

Lopo was born in Lisbon and raised in Montreal where he studied at McGill University.  After a mercifully brief career in banking and private equity with Pictet and Wand Partners, he moved into technology, and was the founder of two successful data and CRM start-ups in New York.  He moved to the UK in 2001 and became the MD of Lifestyle at lastminute.com.

While working at Lastminute.com, Lopo realised the potential for disruption within the €100bn health, wellness and beauty industry, which to that point had largely failed to join the internet revolution. He believed that by providing a world-class cloud-based management software for spas and salons and connecting it to a convenient consumer marketplace, he could help businesses grow while also making it easier for customers to find and book their beauty appointments. In 2008 he founded the company, then called Wahanda, to do just that.

Lopo steered the company through a major European expansion campaign that included five acquisitions in the space of a year, a company rebrand and a name change from Wahanda to Treatwell. In 2015, Japan’s Recruit Holdings invested over €292 million, taking a majority stake in the company helping to fund the ongoing expansion of the business into a global brand. Hair and beauty appointments are now bookable on Treatwell in 11 countries across Europe, with the aim to be in 20 markets by 2020.
