Hear snap insights from IMDA’s PET Sandbox and the adopters’ perspective in this special segment put together by IMDA. This segment will feature key industry players sharing their use cases in the retail, finance and advertising domain, followed by a special panel together with IMDA, as they dive into the unique and common challenges they face.

  

  • Hear IMDA share what they have learnt in the year since they’ve launched their PET Sandbox and what’s next for this regulatory sandbox.
  • How can PETs solve the challenges of sharing financial crime insights to disrupt criminal network activity while addressing tipping-off concerns?  Derek will talk about the potential of using PETs for trans-boundary intelligence sharing.
  • Can PET help companies personalise services for consumers while protecting user privacy? Hear Dr Li Ang share their application of PET in the retail domain.
  • As the digital advertising industry moves into a cookie-less future, browser vendors and ad-tech companies are trying to work together through web standards bodies to develop new, PET-based solutions to attribution measurement that do not entail tracking. Meta and Mozilla have co-proposed a new API called "Interoperable Private Attribution" or IPA. Ben Savage will present on the learnings from their test pilot of IPA through the IMDA PET Sandbox, including the regulatory clarifications on the interplay between such privacy-preserving APIs and consent.

Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) allows for computing on encrypted data, and has always carried the promise of revolutionary change in the way that data is managed and shared. However, realising this promise at scale requires an entirely new computing architecture dedicated to the intensive operations that underpin FHE. Optalysys specialise in FHE accelerator hardware and infrastructure, and we are please to announce that we now have a cloud-native accelerator capability.

In this keynote speech, we will describe the first FHE hardware acceleration capabilities that we will be deploying on the public cloud, the approach that we will be taking over the next 24 months to make our rapidly evolving hardware accessible to a wide range of end-users, and our long-term plan to place high performance FHE accelerators at the heart of data workflows in the cloud.

This comes with a range of challenges (Risks) especially if the underlying data entails confidential or personal information but also presents opportunities. By leveraging PETs, not only organisations can mitigate risks associated with privacy compliance and IP/confidentiality but also position themselves as trusted data collaboration partners while increasing sustainability and resilience of their data driven business. Anne spent over a decade in the Irish government and EU institutions, including developing Ireland’s technical policy positions and diplomatic strategy in relation to EU legislation on telecoms, digital infrastructure, and data. She has represented Ireland in the EU Digital Single Market Strategic Group at the European Commission, the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society at the Council of the European Union and was responsible for foundational work on the EU’s Digital Single Market, including the EU’s early approach to AI governance.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2019, Anne has held several senior positions in technology policy, where she has helped senior technology business leaders shape responsible and sustainable technology development through her research, advice, and expertise. At the World Economic Forum, she developed and led a global portfolio of work on Data Policy and later led cross-product policy strategy for Reality Labs Policy at Meta Platforms Inc. in San Francisco, California.

Tarun currently holds various certifications in Information Security and Data Privacy (ISC2 CISSP, ISACA CISM & IAPP CIPM). He is a member, Chapter Chair and Asia Advisory Board Member for IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals).

Previously, he has also been the Advisory Board Member for Cybersecurity and Privacy startups. He has been interviewed by various UK publications including BBC and regularly addresses global audience at various international conferences.

Dr. Chi Chi Hung is currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist of Digital Trust Centre in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, U.S.A. Before he joint NTU, he has worked in industry (Philips Research and IBM Poughkeepsie), universities (Chinese University of Hong Kong, National University of Singapore, and Tsinghua University), and national research centre (CSIRO, Australia) for more than 30 years. Dr. Chi has been active in basic science research and technology development and deployment. He has published more than 300 papers in international conferences and journals, 10 edited books, and he holds 6 U.S patents. He was program/general chair of more than 16 international conferences and workshops and keynote/invited speakers for more than 30 events. Technologies he developed have also been transferred into industry successfully as startup companies. His current research areas include digital trust, security and privacy preserving, data engineering and science, knowledge modelling, behaviour and cognitive computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, Internet-of-Things (IoT), service and cloud computing. In recent years, he has been focusing on technology research and translation into real use case solutions for economic and social problem solving.
