According to a March 2020 survey, 16 percent of adults in the United States had taken to using more online exercise videos due to social distancing and self-quarantining practices during the coronavirus pandemic.

WHAT IS THE NEW FITNESS REALITY?

Digital strategies that were once on the back bench for many fitness businesses have been accelerated and thrust into action by COVID. This has inevitably driven a surge in demand for at-home equipment and fit-tech solutions, as well as the need to provide engaging, professionally streamed fitness content.  

As a result those set-up to provide on-demand or at-home fit-tech solutions have seen sales more than double in some cases. Some gyms have quickly pivoted into digital and some are still determining how they can professionalize (and monetize) their digital offering

With some gyms set to reopen over the next few months, there are further anticipated shifts in the composition of the market and only time will tell how customers will respond and change how they spend on their fitness.

With a lifetime spent teaching and competing in sports himself, Daniel is passionate believer in the power of sport as a catalyst for positive change on multiple levels. He is also a respected speaker in the global sports and marketing industries with key note talks at conferences such as Web Summit, EuroBike, ISPO, Sweat, The OutDoors Show, Elevate, OIA and EOG Summits.

Daniel is a Non Exec Director of Visit Chichester. He sits on the UK Sport & Outdoor Forum think tank and is a mentor to fit-tech start-ups as part of UKActive's ActiveLab program. He is also part of the international judging panel for the annual UK Active and Endorphin Sports Film Awards.

Growing up in Ireland, Daniel completed a Degree in Marketing and a Masters Degree in Business Studies. Following on from that, Daniel worked for 4 years as European Marketing Director for the iconic American surf brand, O’Neill. Daniel founded Brandwave 13 years ago and now spends his time consulting for key clients on their global B2B and B2C marketing strategies. Daniel lives on the UK South Coast with his wife and three children.

Before launching her own company, FORTË, Lauren spent a decade working on Wall Street, with  the last five years in finance on the trading floor as an Institutional US Government Bond Broker at Whitaker Securities where she helped to dramatically increase UST Short Coupon and Bill desk revenues. Prior to that she worked at Deutsche Bank in Synthetic Equities and Cloudview Capital Management, a global-macro hedge fund, on their trading desk. Lauren graduated from the University of Maryland in 2006, with a BA in communications and concentration in business. She earned ACC Academic Honor Roll, and Intercollegiate Athletic Honor Roll during her time at Maryland. Lauren is a two-time all-American field hockey player, she played in the Junior Olympics, and went on to play Division I at the University of Maryland, the nation’s top ranked program. She plays the piano, violin, has two older brothers, adores her parents, and loves to ski!

Prior to his new role at [solidcore] he served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy for Gold’s Gym International where he oversaw corporate strategy, corporate partnerships, brand innovation, business intelligence, operations support, revenue management across multiple lines of business as well as the member service center.

Prior to Gold’s Gym International, Josh was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division of J.P. Morgan advising clients across multiple industries on mergers and acquisitions, activism defense and capital raise activities. Josh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Baylor University and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management.

Josh lives in Alexandria with Rebecca, his wife of 15 years, and children Makaela and Daniel.
